About this tool
Under the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework a Delhi University semester mixes core papers, discipline electives, generic electives, skill enhancement and value addition courses, each with its own credit weight. This calculator applies the credit weighting correctly, gives the SGPA and the running CGPA, and shows the percentage under the CGPA x 9.5 equivalence.
How it works
Using the DU UGCF Credit SGPA Calculator in three steps
Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.
- 1
Add each UGCF paper with the credits it carries and the grade awarded.
- 2
The tool produces the credit weighted SGPA for the semester.
- 3
Add your previous CGPA and credits to see the cumulative figure and its percentage under the 9.5 rule.
UGCF credit weighted SGPA
SGPA = Sum of (Credits x Grade Point) / Sum of Credits- Grade points are O=10, A+=9, A=8, B+=7, B=6, C=5, P=4 and F=0.
- Core and discipline specific papers usually carry four credits, skill enhancement and value addition courses two.
- A course graded F contributes zero points while its credits remain in the denominator.
Frequently asked questions
How many credits does a UGCF semester carry?
A typical UGCF semester is around twenty two credits spread over core papers, electives and value addition courses, though the exact mix varies by programme.
Do value addition courses affect the SGPA?
Yes. They carry credits and a grade, so they enter the weighted average like any other paper, just with a smaller weight.
How is the CGPA built across semesters?
It is the credit weighted average of all papers completed so far, which is why the calculator asks for your previous CGPA and the credits behind it.
What happens to a paper I have to repeat?
It stays at zero grade points until cleared. Once the reappear result is declared the grade is replaced and the SGPA is restated.
How do I treat a four credit core paper against a two credit course?
Enter the actual credits. The four credit paper carries twice the weight of the two credit course automatically through the calculation.
Are internal assessment marks entered here?
No. Internal assessment is already folded into the grade printed on your result, so only the final grade is needed.
