Credit Weighted Final CGPA Calculator
Combine every semester SGPA with its SPPU credits into the final degree CGPA and class.
Credit Weighted Final CGPA Calculator
Result
Credit weighted CGPA with the SPPU class it falls into.
About this tool
SPPU semesters carry different credit loads, so the final CGPA is a credit weighted average rather than a plain mean of semester SGPA values. Enter every semester with its SGPA and credits and the calculator returns the final CGPA, the equivalent percentage and the SPPU class awarded.
How it works
Using the Credit Weighted Final CGPA Calculator in three steps
Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.
- 1
Add a row for every semester with its label, SGPA and credit total.
- 2
The tool weights each SGPA by that semester credits and sums the products.
- 3
Dividing by the total credits gives the final CGPA, shown with the SPPU class band and the percentage equivalent.
Final degree CGPA
CGPA = Sum of (Semester SGPA x Semester credits) / Sum of (Semester credits)- First Class with Distinction needs a CGPA of 7.75, First Class 6.75 and Higher Second Class 6.25.
- Semester credits are published in the SPPU course structure for your programme and pattern.
- The percentage shown uses the standard (CGPA - 0.75) x 10 rule.
Frequently asked questions
Can I just average my semester SGPA values?
Only if every semester carries the same credits. SPPU credit loads usually differ between semesters, so the weighted calculation is the correct one.
Where do I find semester credits?
They are printed on each semester marksheet and in the credit structure published by SPPU for your pattern and programme.
Does a distinction depend on the CGPA alone?
The class band comes from the CGPA, but a candidate who cleared papers through a re-examination is usually not eligible for the distinction award.
How many semesters should I add?
Add every semester the degree awards credits for, which is six for most three year programmes and eight for engineering.
Should I use the standard or the Circular 332 percentage?
The figure shown here uses the standard rule. For a certified equivalence, run the same CGPA through the Circular 332 tiered converter.
