About this tool

Planning tool for students who know the CGPA they want at graduation. Enter your current CGPA, the credits already completed, the credits still ahead and the goal, and the calculator returns the average SGPA those remaining semesters must deliver, flagging the goal as unreachable when it needs more than a perfect ten.

How it works

Using the Target CGPA Calculator in three steps

Every step below reflects the actual calculation this tool runs, so you can check the result by hand if you need to.

  1. 1

Enter your current CGPA and the credits you have already completed.

  2. 2

Add the credits still remaining in the programme and the CGPA you are targeting.

  3. 3

The tool solves for the average SGPA those remaining credits must earn, and tells you when the target needs more than a perfect ten.

Required future SGPA

Required SGPA = (Target CGPA x Total credits - Current CGPA x Completed credits) / Remaining credits
  • Total credits are the completed credits plus the credits still remaining.
  • A required value above ten means the target cannot be reached in the credits left.
  • Backlog credits repeated later still occupy credit weight, so include them in the remaining figure.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the required SGPA feel so high?

Every completed credit is locked in. The fewer credits you have left, the harder those remaining semesters have to work to move the average, which is why early semesters matter most.

Where do I find my credit totals?

The credit value of each semester is printed on the marksheet or in the course structure published by your university for your programme and admission year.

Does this work for SGPA to CGPA at any university?

Yes. The credit weighted average applies to every ten point scheme, including MAKAUT, AKTU and SPPU. Only the percentage conversion differs between them.

What if the required SGPA is above ten?

The target is not reachable in the credits you have left. Lower the goal, or check whether more credits remain than you entered.

Should I include backlog credits?

Yes, count them in the remaining credits, because they still have to be earned before the degree is complete.
