About this tool
Anna University regulations use a ten point scale where each course grade point is multiplied by the course credits. This calculator produces the semester GPA, folds in the credits you have already completed to give the cumulative CGPA, and shows the percentage equivalent under the CGPA x 10 rule that Anna University applies.

Anna University GPA
GPA = Sum of (Credits x Grade Point) / Sum of Credits- Grade points are O=10, A+=9, A=8, B+=7, B=6, C=5 and RA=0 for a reappearance.
- An RA course keeps its credits in the denominator until it is cleared.
- The CGPA covers every course registered up to the current semester, weighted by credits.
Frequently asked questions
What does RA mean on my result?
RA stands for reappearance, which means the course was not cleared. It carries zero grade points and the course must be registered again in an arrear examination.
Does a withdrawal affect the GPA?
A course withdrawn with permission is not counted in that semester GPA, but it must be completed later for the degree.
Do laboratory courses count the same way?
Yes. Laboratory and project courses carry credits and a letter grade exactly like theory courses and enter the same weighted average.
Is the GPA recalculated after an arrear is cleared?
Yes. The new grade replaces RA and the semester GPA and CGPA are both restated on the consolidated statement.
How do I enter an RA course?
Select the lowest grade so the course contributes zero points while its credits remain counted, which mirrors how the university treats a reappearance.
Does the elective type change the calculation?
No. Professional electives, open electives and core courses all enter the same weighted average through their credits.
