IGNOU evaluates most programmes on a 100-mark scale per course, split between assignments (usually 30 percent) and the term-end examination (usually 70 percent). Overall performance is reported as a division: 1st Division at 60 percent and above, 2nd Division from 50 to 59.99 percent, and pass at 40 to 49.99 percent for most bachelor programmes.
